Old registers, careful hands, modern tooling. You will trace records through digitized and physical archives, assemble clean documentary evidence, and write research summaries a non-specialist can follow. Full training on our internal research platform is provided; what can't be trained is your eye for detail.
What you'll actually do
- Search digitized civil and parish registers for target records
- Cross-verify names, dates, and places across sources before calling anything confirmed
- Assemble evidence packets with citations a reviewer can check in minutes
- Write short, clear research summaries for case managers
- Flag ambiguities honestly instead of forcing a match
A typical week
You pick up three research assignments Monday, each a person to locate in a specific decade and province. Two resolve cleanly through indexed registers; the third takes a sideways route through a neighboring parish and a spelling variant. You write it all up, cite everything, and note one gap for the procurement team to chase on paper.
What you bring
- Strong written English (C1 badge required); Italian reading ability a genuine plus
- Detail obsession: you notice when a date is transcribed one digit off
- Comfortable reading old handwriting, or eager to get comfortable
- Prior research, library, records, or archival experience welcome
Structure and pay
Part-time (20 hrs/week), fully remote, flexible hours within CET ±3. €900-1,300/month, path to full-time for strong performers.
Why this role comes through RemoteComet
The employer runs hiring for this position exclusively through us. That means one application reaches the actual decision maker, your profile is never resold or scattered across databases, and you get a real status on every application: matched, in review, or not this time. Nobody gets ghosted here.
How hiring works
1. Quick apply, two fields, two minutes. 2. If the role lists a skill badge, a short one-time assessment (reused for every role that needs it). 3. A screening conversation with our team. 4. Interview with the employer, where their name is disclosed to you. 5. Offer. Typical time from application to first interview: under two weeks.
